This mystery case deal is for six bottles of a 2023 white wine from Northern Veneto, which is part of the "Trevenezie" appellation in the far Northeast of Italy. The variety is called Garganega (" gar-gahn-eh-gah") and the wine is a light, dry style with notes of citrus, tangerine, pear and almond. Garganega is best known as the main grape variety in Soave, an appellation less than an hour SW of Veneto.
Winemaking:
100% Garganega from hillside vineyards in Northern Veneto. The grapes were harvested in September, gently whole bunch pressed and then cool-fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and aroma. Aged on fine yeast lees for 12 months prior to bottling. Vegan friendly.
Appellation:
Trevenezie IGT ("Tre Venezie" is the "Three Venezies", an appellation forming Venezia Euganea, Venezia Giulia, and Venezia Tridentina in Northeast Italy)
Tasting notes:
"Crisp aromas of green pear, red apple and citrus. Clean and refreshing palate with texture, delicate floral characters and subtle hints of apricot and honeysuckle. A light, lifted, zesty finish with a clean lemony snap"
"This dry white has aromas of pear and apple with citrus notes. The palate is clean and crisp - yet with texture, including floral notes and hints of apricot and honeysuckle, with a lemony finish."
Food pairing:
Grilled fish, scallops and pasta dishes with light cream sauces. The local dish is called Baccalà mantecato, which is whipped cream salted cod, served on toast or polenta.
Please note, this is not a 'mixed' case - it is for 6 bottles of the same wine.
