This mystery case deal is for six bottles of a 2023 French white wine made from two grape varieties called Colombard and Ugni Blanc ("Oo-nee blanc"). This is from a top producer from the Côtes de Gascogne appellation in the Southwest of France.
This is a deliciously aromatic, bright and zingy dry white, quite tropical with aromas of guava, box hedge, basil and lime. The palate has more body to it, with grapefruit, lemon, lime, and a slight hint of passionfruit.
Winemaking:
Vines are generally trained using the Guyot system and vigorous grape selection is used to capture both the fresh aromatics and provide the longevity needed to maintain the
consistent flavour profile for which the cuvée is known. After harvest, the grapes are cooled and undergo maceration of skins for 10-15 hours before being whole bunch pressed and cool-fermented in stainless steel tank to preserve freshness and aroma. The wine is kept on fine yeast lees until bottling to maintain freshness and help build texture and mouthfeel. HVE3 certified sustainable. Vegan friendly.
Appellation:
Côtes de Gascogne IGP
Tasting note:
"A fresh nose of lime, basil, freshly cut green grass and guavas. The medium-bodied palate continues with more grapefruit, subtle passionfruit and zingy tropical lemon."
