Heaphy Vineyards are based in the Moutere, Nelson. Producing wines solely grown on the iconic rich Moutere clay soils, this is a dry, textural Pinot Gris which thrives in the cooler, maritime-influenced Nelson region. With sweet pear and frangipane notes, alongside wonderfully balanced texture of peach and apricot stonefruit on the palate, this wine is as concentrated and textural as it is refreshing and long.
Production
From a single vineyard, grapes are hand-picked when at full ripeness then gently pressed and cold settled in stainless steel tanks, the pressing juices are separated in to free run and pressings, this allows for better integration for the future wine. The two juices are then racked together for fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 14°C on average to naturally achieve 4.5 grams per litre residual sugar (Dry).
