2018 Momento Mori Six Pack
The Momento Mori 6 pack contains:
Brutal - Momento Mori is the only Australian producer to make a Brutal ("bru-tahl") wine; that is a unique wine made by a group of likeminded natural winemakers (must be organic, wild fermented, unfiltered, unfined, no added SO2 and, out of the ordinary), a movement started by the famous Bar Brutal in Barcelona. Exclusive to us, NZ received just 12 bottles. 8 are red, 4 are white. Yours at random, no requests. You can read about each one here.
Bianco - Blend of approximate 40% Fiano, 40% Greco di Tufo and 20% co-fermented Fiano and Chardonnay. Each portion fermented separately in stainless steel using various fermentation techniques and with 1-9 months of skin contact. 18 months aging on lees before blending and bottling.
Give up the Ghost - An extended skin-contact Greco di Tufo, being an Italian white varietal organically grown by the Chalmers family in North Heathcote. Fine, chalky, crystalline.
Etcetera Etcetera - a 14-varietal, continuous ferment of all things white and red as harvested by Dane. As each variety is harvested and brought into the winery a portion is put aside into a seperate fermenter, added to with each day. It's approximately 50-50 in terms of white varieties and red varieties, but ultimately as a wine it is a dark rosé/light red in colour.
Cardinia Ranges Rosé - Dane's 'top' wine; all from Pinot Noir that has been grown organically and tended to by Dane and Hannah. Sand and clay over granite soils. Yields kept to under 1kg per vine. Fermented and matured in stainless steel but not fruity. This is savoury, dry and mineral-forward. Fine boned, electric and complex.
The Incline - 95% Syrah 5% Nosiola, grown organically by the Chalmers family in North Heathcote on Ironstone, Dolerite and Basalt soils. Hand harvested, co-fermented. Deep, dark, blue fruits but with the lightness of touch and freshness you can expect from Dane's wines.
