2016 Les Bottes Rouges Gibus Trousseau
Les Bottes Rouge is the joint venture of Jura born school teacher turned vigneron Jean-Baptiste Menigoz and Amsterdam restaurateur Florien Kleine Snuverink. After many years under the tutelage of Raphaël Monnier (Ratapoil) and Stéphane Tissot, Jean-Baptiste committed to his first harvest in 2012. He was joined in 2015 by Florien for a single harvest which soon transformed into an ongoing partnership.
Les Bottes Rouge has 7 hectares of parcels in the Arbois and Abergement. Jean-Baptiste and Florien experiment with each of these parcels in the winery to find the best expression of the fruit from each site. This results in a large range of small production cuvees released each year.
Gibus is 100% Trousseau from chalky soils, hand destemmed and fermented in stainless. This is often considered the most serious and structured of their range.
