Vinya Oculta ('Hidden vineyard' in Catalan)
Estate grown and made from 3 seperate parcels totalling 1.8 hectares, all planted in 1989 by Amós's grandfather. The 3 parcels get picked and vinified seperately according to soil type - pure limestone, calcareous-clay and sand. Approx 250m altitude.
The grapes are hand-harvested and then left on skins for roughly one week. Wild ferment, basket-pressed to aged French oak where the wine continued to ferment to dry and was then left to mature for a further 16 months.
Vinya Oculta is a true pedigree skin-contact wine. Deep, amber hue with great, nicely balanced extraction and skin tannins. More oxidative than Missatge en una Ampolla (which is done entirely in steel), but equally lively and bright. Expect textures, layers, and depth. Bottled unfiltered, unfined and with no added sulphites - these wines are clean, stable and incredibly well made.
