From Amy Farnsworth, Winemaker: "For those that know me, the Gris was the first wine I released in 2018. This is a skin contact Pinot Gris macerated on skins for a month before pressing. This year I sourced certified Organic & Biodynamic fruit from the Wairarapa, where my best friend is the winemaker and I have a spot to pitch a tent & work on the vines.
After a gentle foot plunge each day, I pressed the wine and transferred into my new Tinajas, which just arrived from Spain (in the middle of harvest of course!).The Leon family have been making Tinajas (amphorae) by hand since 1783 in Caceres, Spain. Besides being magical and fragile vessels all the same, I love the purity of fruit and intact vineyard expression that one can achieve by keeping the wine in contact with this special clay. "
