Marlborough Pinot Noir from legendary organic grape grower Callum Linklater.
The Linklaters planted this vineyard in 2012 where it has been farmed organically since day one and never been subjected to synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fungicides. The soils here are alluvial riverbed and stoney gravels and the Pinot is entirely from 777, a particular 'Dijon' clone of Pinot Noir known for its small bunches, small berries, good structure and balanced tannins especially when grown in cooler climates such as this.
Hand harvested, destemmed and fermented for 7 days in open top fermenters, pressed-off and then matured in French oak barriques (approx 18% new) for just shy of a year.
The wine is structured and balances both fruit and savoury - incredibly delicious and easy to drink, but slow down and you'll find plenty of dark cherry, dried herb, dark chocolate and liquorice notes in there too.
BioGro certified organic, vineyard no. 5186.
Unfiltered, unfined, vegan.
